Perspective Book

Medium: Pencil

Direct Observation: Draw a book(s) using two point perspective concepts. Your vanishing points must not be on the page. Instead, imagine them somewhere off on either side of your page. The drawing must include an environment (Table and background)!

Use shading throughout the page and aim for at least 10 different values.

(Do not copy the student examples. This is a DIRECT OBSERVATION drawing)

Book in Perspective

This is a very good drawing but can you spot the perspective mistake?

Tips for a better drawing (and to improve your grade):

Place the book at an even angle and view it from just below your eye level.

Include a background and light the book with a single light source.

The perspective on drawing to the left seems a bit extreme since the vanishing points are nearly on the page.

Note that both drawings have a good amount of shading.

Make the book occupy a large portion of your page.

Don't attempt lettering unless you are really sure of how to do it.

Make sure your vanishing points are not too close.

This is an example, of a book drawing with the vanishing points drawn too close.
