Using watercolor create a SERIES of cloud studies that rely on perspective. Use your journal to document the process, your progress and failures. Try to do as much of it from direct observation as possible.

The student sample is remarkable for the depth it conveys. Notice that on the image where I have overlaid the perspective grid, all the clouds do recede and diminish in size.
