Migrant Mother

Do you have an image that stays with you? Dorothea Lange’s “Migrant Mother” has been one of those for me. As millions of Ukrainian women flee with children in tow, I am reminded of Florence Owens Thompson, the mother in this iconic image. Using oil paint, I superimposed it with my daughter shopping with her Nonna in a shop in Frankfurt. Recognizing the privilege we have. “ This painting is about all the mothers out there that should be doing other things with their kids rather than running for their safety.
