They highlight the juxtaposition between subject and place with some connections to powerful women in art history. These works are created in oil and form puzzling double exposures.
Printmaking
Jessica Russo Scherr uses her own photography as a foundational element in her printmaking, transforming captured images into intricate prints. These works are characterized by their depth and complexity, effectively layering visual elements to create rich, textured compositions. This process highlights Jessica's ability to bridge photography and printmaking, offering a unique perspective on familiar scenes and fostering a deeper appreciation of their cultural significance.
The Borders We Create
This exhibition is focused on the borders we create and the tension that is fueled by a line on a map. It also asks the question, should we all be citizens of the world? Borders change over time sometimes through violence, other times land is traded or sold peacefully or it is parceled out through international agreements. Borders can be open or heavily militarized. They can be geographic or established through agreements between political or social entities. What is a border but a line drawn on a map?
