A sense of place is a complex construct used to characterize the connection between people and places. In an international school setting, a sense of place can be created from those places that have played important roles in our past or perhaps the place has been a constant in a series of relocations.
Objective: Find a source image from a satellite view of a place that makes you feel connected. Create an oil painting or an oil pastel done from an abstracted interpretation of your “place.” Consider the landscape as abstract elements forming the composition. How do the lines, textures, and colors you use abstract your image?
